Who we are

Community minded people like you and me

What is Rotary?

You've seen the name but probably wondered what we do, well read on . . .

We are a group of individuals helping the local community and raising money for local, national and international projects. Globally, we are a worldwide organization that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. Approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 32,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas.

In addition to our local community projects, the Rotary Foundation is one of the world's largest charities with projects including global polio eradication and disaster relief. In 2018 alone, it awarded $86,677,399 (US) in funding globally.

This all sounds great, but Rotary's component part, it's people, are just ordinary people who get together to have fun and enjoy the camaraderie and in the process make a difference, sometimes on a very large scale.

Mount Waverley Rotary is a group of people who meet regularly each Wednesday evening. We have a great time and in the process help our local community.

Our members come from all over the area and are a cross-section of our community.

how we work

We are opportunity creators!

We work hard to support initiatives to address community need locally, in other parts of Australia and across the world.

You can find us out and about fundraising for our community. We’re often running a bbq, whether it’s feeding hungry locals at our local Bunnings, or feeding market goers bacon and egg rolls at the Mount Waverley Village Market which we manage.

We promote friendship, fellowship and mutual assistance in community service, locally and internationally. Youth development programs and assistance for the underprivileged are key focus areas. Members typically come from diverse backgrounds. Involvement in a range of club administration, fundraising and project management roles provides all members with opportunities for personal development in a nonjudgemental environment.

There are always events and activities to get involved in!

We are people of action

We connect passionate people with diverse perspective to exchange ideas, forge lifelong friendships, and, above all, take action to change the world.

When we’re not fundraising, you can find us bringing together leaders to learn, exchange ideas, and take action to attempt to solve critical community problems. Every Wednesday, we run dinner meetings and most weeks we have a guest speaker.

We’re dedicated people who are passionate about our local community, enjoy giving back, and making a difference in the world. We’re a friendly bunch who celebrate diversity and welcome all. Our club is inter-generational, bringing together young and old, and everyone in between! We look for ways to improve our community and invest in the next generation.
