supporting a loving home for vulnerable children

Lotus Children’s Centre

Lotus Children’s Centre in Mongolia takes in orphans and abandoned children of all ages who are provided with primary care including food, healthcare, clothing and accommodation.

Providing shelter, care and support to build happy and positive futures for abandoned and abused children, Mount Waverley Rotary has been supporting the Centre since 2006.

Children are educated at the kindergarten which has been developed by the Centre as well as a primary school. Furthermore, vocation training is supplied such as baking, basic mechanics, needlework and gardening to provide children with the skills to obtain good employment when leaving secondary school.

Over the past fifteen years, Mount Waverley Rotary has donated $28,000 in monetary funding. We have also provided a bus worth $23,000 via an international grant in 2012. In addition, we have provided clothing, and footwear, seeds, multivitamins, pharmaceutical support, and educational materials.

This year, the Centre has identified the following areas of need as priorities for funding support:

  • Food: rice, milk, cheese, cooking oil, fresh fruit, canned vegetables

  • Office: printer ink, A3 and A4 paper, laptops for students

  • Education: full or partial school tuition sponsorship. Salary for music, art, dance, teachers

  • Household: curtains, bedding, cleaning supplies, house rugs, small kitchen

Our investment in supporting Lotus Children’s Centre is long-term and we are committed to supporting this important international initiative.
